Intelligent transportation system (ITS) is the application of a variety of advanced science and technology (including information technology, computer technology, data communication technology, sensor technology, electronic control technology, automatic control technology, and artificial intelligence technology) to service, management, and control for the transportation system. ITS coordinates vehicles, transportation facilities, and behaviors of road users to improve traffic safety, improve traffic operation efficiency, reduce adverse effects on the environment, and reduce energy consumption.
